I can't find the thread but I'm sure that Gary told us that the lease of the Maltsters was up for sale. Anybody heard anything recently? Just wondered if it had changed hands?

Cheers

Yes Howard,
The Maltster lease is up for grabs as is a number of the groups pubs in the London area.
So far as I have heard there have been no takers.

Hi Mr NOG
My once bestest pub is still INMHOP a disaster.
Tomorrow when i go to wake Josh up for a chug i will not bother to stop for a pint.
Very sad.
Big corporate chains can ruin every thing bit like the UK really.

Jim - Thanks for that. I'm not suprised, just found the Christie's advert - £60,000 for the lease and £42,000 pa rent. Not sure I'd risk it!!!

Roy m8 you are right, a very pleasant stroll up the hill to the Ship is the best bet IMHO as well.

Cheers

I really hope the Maltsters comes through. We have enjoyed quite a few cheap & cheerful evenings there over the years, notably the Morris dancing nights!
Risk assessment on dancing across the lane when there wasn't enough room???!

I admit we ate at South Walsham's  'The Ship' instead on our most recent visit.  Frown

Just had a look at the web site of the Christie the Estate Agents who are selling the Maltster and quoted the taking for the pub were quoted for year ending Sept 05 as 310.142 pounds sterling.
I wonder what this years income would be? Evil Grin

Probably not as much Jim!! Even on that turnover quoted it gives gross sales of 6k per week (average). The rent is £800 per week. Plus rates, electricity, staff etc. I don't think it's going to make anyone rich!!

Doing a quick fag packet calculation, the gross profit on the wet sales wouldn't even cover the rent! That means you are very reliant on food sales in a very competitive market. No wonder there are no takers!!!!  And Jim's right, what HAS it been doing this year!

Cheers
