From the Horning Community FB page:- ..."Please be advised that The New Inn, Horning will not be reopening on the 31st. January and will remain closed over the coming period. The future ownership of The New Inn is being discussed with El Group as the lease is due to expire at the end of March 2020. It is unlikely that we personally will be renewing the lease as we wish to focus on other opportunities and projects. We are however confident that pub will reopen in plenty of time for the summer season and continue to be a popular choice. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank everybody for their custom and support, especially the team for their contribution. Thank you and best wishes. Mark & Kim"... Can but wish them all the best and hope it'll not remain closed for too long. Steve.

Gosh - I never realised that the New Inn was part of the Enterprise Inns organisation ( now known as EI). I was aware that Mark & Kim had moved away ( back to London and Banking I assume ) after they sold their large riverside Horning home last year. I will be honest and say that we noticed what I will call a "bit of a difference" in service at the pub thereafter. We hoped, and still do, that this was a temporary glitch, and that the New Inn will go on to be successful again, rather than returning to some of the bad press days it unfortunately had a few years back. The setting is lovely, being able to book a mooring and know that Gus was there to help boaters in, quiz nights, Halloween nights, New Years Eve - all have been great so fingers crossed this comes good, for those who work there, Horning itself, and visitors. I certainly hope that the place reopens with a similar attitude: one of my favourites for many years now.

I have had sunday lunch at the New Inn for the past 6 years on my annual break on the Broads. I hope that it reopens with the same customer service as before and hope that Gus is retained to assist with mooring, almost like valet mooring. I hope to see some of you in September

Enterprise Inns still have a board outside advertising it. I can't imagine anyone taking on such a venture in the current climate. Even without a forced closure of pubs and restaurants, I fear many will have to close simply from lack of custom.

The New Inn will re-open after the Coronavirus restrictions are lifted and the new proprieter will be Roy the current landlord of the Malsters at Ranworth. We were in the Malsters on the last night of trading before the government closures came into force and Roy is really looking forward to taking over (it will bring his portfolio of pubs to four!)If he brings the same ethos to the New Inn it will be a great pub. Regards John.
