Great pub. nice couple running it. I just don't understand why they can't find a Chef?

I can only assume the speculation is down to it having a closing party last winter then being open a week later but devoid of customers, I don't think that had anything to do with the current management, I think that masterpiece of marketing was down to the guy that did the place up.
Most locals I have spoken to speak well of the current management just a shame they don't have the kitchen running as they would take a lot from the ship at the moment going by the last meals I had there.

Apparently there is a significant shortage of chefs across Norfolk and several other pubs are struggling to man their kitchens. Or at least so I am informed by uni student son with a summer job in one of them!

The term "chef" is a moveable feast (intentional pun) regarding pubs. Some do have proper qualified personal others have staff that operate a mean microwave oven.
A decent one of the former are tough to come by. The latter is two a penny.
If the Nelson are looking for a real chef and refusing to accept anything else, then good for them. It bodes well for when they do start serving food.

Hurrah! The Lord Nelson is now at long last offering food. The menu appears to be basic pub grub (nothing wrong with that), and the restaurant is closed on Mondays.

We were there Wednesday, had a fantastic meal.

OK, maybe fairly basic pub grub, but fantastic all the same, and at a good price.

Would highly recommend!
