Ate there last Saturday, great food and all seemed well. Shame if it has closed, it had become one of our favourites. Can any locals keep us informed of developments, please?

Regards, Ray.

We had a function booked there for the 11th April.  Were told by a member of the staff yesterday (Thursday) that the pub had "gone into liquidation" and that our function would not be taking place there.

I don't think it is helpful to anyone that forum members start to try to double guess why things may have gone wrong.  From the little that I have gleaned, the situation is a little more complicated than first impressions may suggest.

Our sympathies, of course, go to Ruth and Darren, and particularly to the staff who are now jobless.

Life is a series of lessons.  If you do not learn it you get it handed back to you until you have.

It is a shame in such a scenario when lessons are repeatedly not learnt as many others normally suffer

In Potter today all the signs were still up ,but at lunch time it was closed.Shame it is looking the best it has for a long time, lets hope it is not empty  for long ,also noticed work being done at the Falgate .? So there is no pub in Potter at present.?I would have thought that there would be a good foot fall considering the amount of people that visit from coach, river, car and on foot ,to provide a steady trade.Saw the first comic crew on a Barnes boat the full cruise shipmoutfits complete with all white suit and captains cap and the trimmings ! The season is not far away now folks. Smile

Roy and Diane

Hope to see you on the river,

"Ppl do need a rest."
Would you be so kind as to explain that statement please.
Do you mean it was closed for a holiday?

"Rumours"?  What "rumours"?  Perhaps I just imagined that our function previously booked at The Broadshaven had been cancelled.  The Broadshaven closed.  Fact.  The staff had been told that the pub was in liquidation.  Fact.  How do I know that? Because members of staff who had just been given their marching orders told me so. Fact.  I don't post rumours. I could have provided the full background to the fact that the Broadshaven had closed.  I chose not to so as not to be accused of posting unfounded gossip.

I have no idea what "people need a rest" in the previous post refers to, but I'll give you another fact.  The pub re-opens on 21st March under new management. The new lanlord and landlady, Darren (who has no previous connection with the Broadshaven despite shating a forename of someone who had) and Reenie, are very experienced publicans, who have been appointed to re-open the Broadshaven by its owners, Punch Taverns.  They have very kindly agreed to honour our function booking. We are extremely grateful to them and wish them every success.
