Some activity inside the pub twice this week. I could be about to re-open although it has been stripped of furniture and kitchen equipment etc

Not you two that's reopening it then?! (cos I see from your profile thats what you do for a living) Was aware it was stripped and in need of a full refit which seemed to make an Easter re-opening a bit of a tall order, though some rumours along these lines have been circulating. We'll be down next thursday so will report further if nobody else has updated progress. If we trundle down the lane towards our mooring and find the pub open (or on its way to being open some time soon) we will be delighted! IF anyone else has more info, do please post up. Karen

It would be a boost for Ranworth, and all river users, if the pub were to re-open...as long as it doesn't become another mega-price, rip-off brasserie type place. The area needs places for folks to have a drink and a meal without having to re-mortgage their home.

Doeasn't seem likely the Maltsters will be opening soon as email I had from Punch Taverns about a fortnight ago still had it as available and on the market. Nige

Who ever goes in to The Maltsters is going to find it hard to make money. First years costs are £80,000 plus then £34,000 plus per year in rent and that is for a 5 year tenancy. That means they have to make at least £50,000 a year just to get their initial investment back and pay the rent. That's £1000 a week BEFORE you pay staff, buy stock or make a profit. Nige

We'd like it but who wouldn't. Like most people we recognise that its gonna' be an uphill stuggle for whoever takes it. The pub business is on its knees and not just in Broadland. One thing for sure tho'. It won't be open at Easter since the person at Punch responsible for any decisions is having a well deserved holiday until after the Easter period. Sorry to disappoint
