Last evening we attended a function at the Waveney House Hotel in Beccles, the food was good, the beer was good, the service was fantastic and friendly, the surroundings perfect. Not only did they cater for 115 at our function but the bar/riverside restaurant was almost full.

It goes to prove that a good pub/restaurant can still be in operation.

Our favourite place for lunch in Beccles - especially on a sunny afternoon but even on a colder day its lovely to sit in the conservatory bit.

What are the prices like ?

We've wondered about stopping off before, as we noticed you can ring and book a mooring, but thought it might be a bit expensive !!

For our do last evening they compared favourable to anywhere else in the region, our orgniser is fussy. The beer is no dearer than anywhere else (apart from Geldeston Lock) and the facilities better than most, beautifully set up. Everything looks brand new, the kitchens spotless, worth a try.

The staff although mainly young speak English and not gruntish, and the cooking is marvellous.

My daughter's wedding is taking place there, so we must think it is good!

The hotel will do their utmost to make certain that she will have a reception to remember, nicely I hope, good luck to the couple to be.

We have intention of being in Beccles 2nd April, is the arrangements still the same, do you have to book moorings, and is there a charge?

If you mean mooring at the pub there is only room for one boat and thats been there for at least 2yrs so best to go onto the floating pontoons at the swimming pool and pay the harbour master then walk the short distance back to the hotel, hope this helps, peter.

We just tie up to the wall outside the hotel and just climb over. You might get a few surprised looks from diners though as your head pops over the top!

Actually, if you phone up, they do pull the moored boat along.

Re the pontoons by the swimming pool, often moor there. Never been asked for money though.

Well worth the effort.

Beccles Lido isn't open until May though.

If we moor there will we be able to get out of the complex?
