Damn. Should have hustled a bit there.

No maps required. - Get up the google page, click on MAPS (top left corner), soom in to Rockland, change to satelite view, zoom in to the shop, right click to bring up tool bar, click the 'directions from here' box. Move over to the New Inn, right click again then click the 'to here' box = And up comes the direction and mileage.
Enjoy Andy

And here's me thinking you must have walked it! Try it sometime if you haven't. It really does seem much more distant!
I've mentioned this before, the sign at the staithe said three quarters of a mile and when we asked at the shop, the shop keeper admitted that the sign fibbed because he reckoned nobody would come if it told the truth!

We are off to Rockland St mary on Monday for the day this Monday. Does anyone know if the Post Office sell the Broads Authority Charging Cards and if so is it open on Mondays ?

Thanks
Paul

Rockland P.O is on the list.
Can't get them at Brundall at the mo as riverside stores are closed, awaiting new management.
Also, the craft shop at Woods End, Bramerton, is closed permanantly.

Thanks, Bill. Are they clearly marked? And is the east or west channel the best?

John, apologies...must have missed you original post. So much for eagle-eyed moderators eh? Smile

Our boat draws a good 3ft, probably more at the moment as she's ready for lifting and is dragging a beard which would qualify here for membership of ZZ Top!

We have never had a problem either at high or low water on Rockland Broad or at the staithe. The depth meter mever showed much below 4 feet. The channels are quite well marked but beware...if you stray outside you will ground.

We prefer the eastern approach (Short Dyke?) to the broad as the western one does get a little narrow and you can sometimes end up getting quite close to the sides and consequently sucking crud into the weed filters. Not a major problem but one which would be nice to avoid if at all possible IMHO.

The eastern entry has some excellent moorings too if you like out-of-the-way spots.

Rockland is a lovely place and well worth a visit...

John
