Topic: The Forum pulling together.

This has been put under Broads history because it certainly goes down as part of the Forums history.

I earlier pulled out an old discussion where the forum was getting a bit heated.I have pulled out another one where every member of the forum united to help another member.

The story was that a member ((ade) visited his boat moored at the Beauchamp Arms to do some work on her enabling him to sell her.
When he arrived he was shocked to find that she had sunk.

Discussions were posted giving him advice, it emerged that his insurance had expired and that he could not afford to have her lifted.
A member suggested something about he would see if he could help.

Wow! The Forum exploded there was offers of help, donations and tools.Members got together and worked on tides to see if she could be pumped and raised.

Members gathered for the raising.Unfortunately it could not be raised, mainly because the pumps were not strong enough.Lessons from the first attempt were analysed and plans were made for a second attempt.

Two large pumps were loaned from a plant hire company.Members in diving suits went in the water boarding up windows.
The two large pumps were put in the boat and started up, pumping away, no luck the boat would not move.
A small 2 inch pump laying on the bank was also put into the boat, suddenly inch by inch the boat started to lift.

It was hair tingling to see her float.

Our Lord Paul videoed the event and it can be seen on utube.

The forum has changed since that event, Bella, people have moved on, perhaps even changed their allegiance, some of those involved with that salvage have regretfully passed over, so to speak, or are now less able than they were. It would be good to think that the forum would work together again, has anyone got a conveniently sunken boat handy? Hopefully NBF folk will pull together, once the lockdown is lifted.
In the meantime left click on:
Eight years ago, amazing, where has the time gone? Lots of names, lots of memories.

As one of those who went in to and under the water, I was in the dry suit black/blue, I for one would do it again if asked! The best principals of the Forum are alive and well in my opinion when someone needs help.

As you can see I’ve been with the Forum for a long time, yes we’ve had some ‘strong’ discussions, I stay out of the ‘political’ ones like the few we have at the moment. You’ll see my contributions when someone asks for help or does anyone know type of questions.

I’ve now sold our beloved boat ‘Braveheart’, did it last year as we aren’t getting any younger. So if you see us out it will be on a hire boat! But I’d help anyone on the Forum(this or the others) or not on a forum.

Kind regards, John(Captain
Joshie), Jo & Toby.

Yes, the forum has definitely changed. It was just being bored and tapping away I came across Lord Paul’s video.
There is a long version and a short one, well worth watching.

Saw Braveheart a lot when afloat. did you have a dog as well. an alsation?

  Hi Artist

Had to laugh at that, Toby the dog who was also at the raising of Ade’s boat, is far from an Alsatian  LOL. He might just lick you to death though!

The photo is him next to Braveheart at Sumerlyton 24hr moorings.

A friend of ours, who moored near us did have a white Alsatian called Storm, we were often seen together with Toby.

We did have a Bounty 30 Dawn Princess before that and Toby was also with us then and moored down Acle Dyke next to our friends with Storm you may have seen us there to.

Kind regards, John(Captain
Joshie), Jo & Toby.
