Just been flicking through the channels and the nbn seems to have shut up shop. Mind you I can't get much on dab radio either so could be my end as the commas bods often quote...

Yes I found that as well.  My IT must be playing up too!

Their FB page is still 'live' and is attracting comments from baffled members.

Just had a look on fishhook and it's closed as well, must be my valves playing up as sue says lol

Ah I haven,t joined it... forgot to do as it says on the tin!

Maybe the previously discussed admin changes are being put in place, so the site has been taken 'off air' until they are completed.

I was reading the NBN earlier this afternoon with no
problems so I recon that considering the problems with
a certain individual, it may have been hacked.
If they were going to shut it down for any reason then
there would have been a pre-warning notice posted.

Things move on.  All the Facebook site about the Broads is increasing nearly weekly.  Some good others just there.
It shows the signs of the times and how things change over a few years.

So wonder where the people who left here to go there will now go - FB I guess ?  Evil Grin

The wording used is somewhat contradictory. It says 'currently unavailable' and then goes on to say it is unsustainable and thanks members for their support. A mystery! It seems from FB that some members can access the site.
By the way, there appears to be another Dreamer posting elsewhere, it is not me!!

Paladine    -- Oct-7-2017 @ 5:05 PM

Dreamer, I don't think anyone who has read your posts on here would, for one moment, think that you were the somewhat aggressive poster on NBN. Rather that someone wanting to cause upset for both that, and this, forum deliberately used your user-name. It happened to me a few years ago. Take it as a compliment  Wink

Could be transomware! Shame because there are some presenters over there who do interesting documentaries which may have a different slant on what's going on over here.

Hopefully not the end of the thread for them.

Thank you Paladine, I very much appreciate that post.  Cheers

  Hi

Just been onto the NBN, no problems now, someone had posted just a few minutes ago.

Must have been gremlins in the works.

Not so much gremlins, but a change of admin staff, it seems.

Would I be right in thinking that someone trying to join this forum would not be able to use a name which was already in existence? If that is right then I think I may have possibly saved this forum a lot of nastiness.  Smile

I may be corrected by the hamster (ouch!), but my understanding is that forum etiquette, on any forum not just this one, requires each member to select a unique user name. This avoids the confusion that would be caused by a plethora of members called, for example, John. So there should only ever be one 'Dreamer' on any particular forum.

It never ceases to confuse me when, on some forums (even this one occasionally), a member is referred to by his/her given name. Great if you happen to know what that is, but it usually involves me going back through posts to find out who the heck has just been replied, or referred, to.

Hence you will never find me referring to a member by other than his/her user name (although sometime I'll refer to a frequent poster by initals (eg TerryTibbs = TT), if I am replying to a post they've just made.

'That' poster could have easily chosen a unique name and posted on here. I suspect he had a different agenda, though.

But, as far as I am concerned, there is only one Dreamer!  Cheers and everyone knows which is the fake.

I too only use user names rather than real ones to avoid confusion.
Paladine is correct that there can only be one person using a particular user name. When my former guise of Exile became unusable for technical reasons I tried to re register under that name. The site very firmly informed me that name was already in use so not available...

I'd love the chance to correct you Mr Paladine but your research is always spot on. Smile

As you say, only one username on the forum.

Hope that helps John. LOL
