Topic: Never mind the weather...

You may recall that last week the weather was somewhat inclement. Nevertheless, we spent an enjoyable few days out on the boat. The Coltishall Lock mooring proved to be most entertaining. Despite the weather, three young couples decided to try out their inflatable stand-up paddle boards and to have a barbeque. None of them got wet by falling off the boards, but the barbeque was a different matter altogether. The rain bucketed down and they ended up sheltering under a tree, trying to keep the barbeque alight. Ah, the joys of youth.

Then a ranger launch appeared, and moored up while the crew went for a stroll round. All right for some, I suppose.

Later, we were treated to the company of a pair of Indian Runner Ducks for a while. I don’t think I’ve seen these curious-looking ducks on the Broads before.

Finally, on the opposite side of the river, there stands a post and holder for a lifebuoy ring. On our arrival, I noticed the ring and rope were lying on the ground. Perhaps naturally, I thought that some youngsters had been larking about and hadn’t bothered to replace the ring correctly. Being a tidy sort of bloke, I wandered round, across the common land, avoiding the cow pats (no cattle to be seen), coiled the rope and replaced the ring on its holder. Later that afternoon, a small herd of young cattle appeared and the culprit soon became apparent. A youngster, indeed, but not the sort I had been thinking of!

Sorry Pally, I hijacked your thread and now all the bovine puns are coming out. You would have every right to beef about it.

Well, it was cold enough last week to need a Jersey, but there has been an Abondance of sun today. 26 degrees in my back garden!
