Topic: Some advice needed please

Hi all, I am just about to book for myself and the family (2 adults and 2 kids) and I dont know whether to book with the Water Ways website, Hoseasons or Richardsons boating holidays.  There is not too much difference in price but wanted to make sure we get good service and tuition etc.

Would also appreciate any advice on easy to handle cruisers for a first timer.  Thanks guys.

Hoseasons and Waterways holidays are just booking agents. Richardsons is an actual boatyard, so better to book direct with them (they also have a pretty good loyalty scheme).

As to which style of boat to choose - ones with a cockpit at the back are probably the easiest from a handling point of view, however, they do tend to be the smallest as regards space on board. How many sleeping cabins do you need, and are your children of an age where they will be able to help with mooring up etc?

  simsy hi,

A lot depends on your budget as the boats vary a lot in price and when you chose to go makes a big difference.

Here is a link to a Richardson's boat that looks ideal for 4.
It also has a bow thruster which can be very helpful when mooring up and general manoeuvrability.

This type of boat is affectionately known as a bath tub, you may prefer a more sporty type but bath tubs in general tend to feel more spacious.  This boat also has a split opening roof.

Have a great holiday.  Smile

Kind Regards

  Hello simsy42,

Welcome to the forum.

I would book with Richardson's directly and will spend time with you if you are uncertain about the boat you would be hiring.
For more information look on Richardson's website they have a number of introduction and instruction video's aimed at novices or for people needing a refresher.

Whoever you book with enjoy your Broads holiday.

Do some googleing, richardsons are not the only hire yard on the broads and you may get a more appropriate deal for your needs from elsewhere, but do try and book direct with whichever yard as theres no sense handing beer tokens to an agent, spend them on your holiday in one of the many good pubs.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Depending on your location and ideas of where you wish to explore, how about some of the private boat yards?

We have hired for many many years from Pacific Cruisers in Loddon.  (southern broads)  Then taken the boat up to the northern broads to explore.

Sometimes they can work out a little cheaper than the larger companies?

Just a thought, enjoy which ever you choose though!  Careful it's addictive!

some people are like slinkies
- no point - but when pushed
down the stairs bring a smile
to your face!
