Sadly, many of the 38 visits need to be credited to the laptop rather than me. I start off with good intentions, but soon my mind, body or both are demanded elsewhere! One Friday I will lock the doors, turn off the lights, close the curtains and turn off the telephones. Then I will probably fall asleep!

Pah and Quadruple Pah!! Yet again I have been driven to comment on the disgraceful Shenanigans that occurred during last nights Quiz!

Far from being an objective assessment of members’ knowledge of the Norfolk Broads, what followed was a travesty of natural justice that resulted in the correct winner i.e me, trailing in a dismal seventh due to collusion between the QM and other participants!!

It began in Round 1, which was ostensibly dedicated to the Beatles and their wonderful music but which ended up with a series of questions linking the Fab Four to a rather run down ex fishing port located on the banks of the River Humber!

For example :- Q1 Paul McCartney penned “The Long and Winding Road” whilst travelling on the M62 to City in the County of East  Yorkshire renowned for its Cream Colured telephone boxes.

Answer:- Hull

Q2 John Lennon composed “Help” whilst riding on the upper deck of a tram trying to escape the stench of fish emanating from a Kipper Smelting House located in which former fishing port famous as the home of the Beat Combo Pop group “The Housemartins”!!

Answer Hull perhaps??

Q3 Dorothy Rigby, half cousin of Eleanor lived in this City which is located immediately East of the Humber Bridge.

Answer. Err Hull I suspect!!

And so it went on for a further 6 questions until finally Q10 asked “Which Beatles Song had an alarm clock ringing on it” which thankfully had no discernible link to this Port.

I quite correctly answered “I am the Walrus” but was immediately disqualified by the QM Because I am not a resident of Kingston Upon Hull!!  Disgraceful!!

Needless to say at the end of Round 1 “Tigerhawk” (the eventual quiz winner and resident of this wretched city) scored 10 and the rest of us Nowt! What chance did we have!!

And to compound matters even further whilst browsing a rather seedy second hand shop in Hessle Road (Yes Hull!!) today I happened upon a pristine stockpile of Lisa,s dodgy DVD,s “ Threshing the Norfolk Way Volume 4” for sale at a discount price.

On closer examination of the box I was horrified to see inscribed on the side “Sole Northern Distributor Tigerhawk Productions Kingston Upon Hull”

This is an appalling violation of my Copywrite and I have instructed my solicitor accordingly!!

And surprise surprise who came second in the Quiz?? Yip Lisa!!

Well that’s it I,m boycotting all future Quizzes until the Ombudsman intervenes and restores Order.

In fact I am going to start an alternative quiz commencing this Tuesday which will address more luminous subjects such as “A study of Whippet Breeding in the North Eastern Coalfields”,” A History of Newcastle United since 1837” and finally “The Palaeontology of Great Crested Newts with reference to their distribution in the Bure Valley” !!
All are welcome, 8 pm start!

Yours

Much Miffed of Molescoft
Beverley (Twinned with Bransholme)

P.S Lisa I purchased one of the said DVD,s for £1.50. Very Good Value indeed especially Scene 3 where your use of an electronic and extendable boat hook and a pair of Grey Lag Geese at Beccles Quay certainly complimented your Party Piece!! Very Racy!!

  Ptg,
Wonderful rant!  I'm really embarrassed that our collusion has been discovered.  Vetchugger e-mailed me all the questions on Friday morning and I made a reasonable job of only getting some of them right!
Just to keep you informed, next week's quiz will include categories such as 1) Sound effects used in the Beatles' I am The Walrus.  2) Hostelries in Molescroft, and 3) Newts and their uses in British cuisine.
I'll post the other categories during the week ( after I've checked with Vetchugger and Goodfortune what they know a lot about)

You see vindicated at last!! Video one, 2 minutes in, if that is not an Alarm Clock ringing in the background on I am The Walrus then Alan Shearer is a Mackem!!

As for the video depicting poor Great Crested Newt wobbling around its paltry tank in a confused  manner I’m afraid I have sent a copy of your video to :-

A.     The local constabulary.

B.     The Newt Preservation Society.

This is a disgraceful contravention of the Wild Life and Countryside Act 1981 which explicitly prevents the unauthorised incarceration of these lovely creatures!!

Hopefully you will be getting your collar felt as we speak!!

Sorry it is too late. I,ve exposed your wretched charade!! On close examination of Scene 3 of Lisa,s dodgy DVD I alluded to at Beccles there appears to be an fat lad acting as an extra in the background.

I swear that he is wearing a soiled Billy Whitehurst T Shirt and clutching a copy of “ Hull City The Glory Years” ( I use the term copy loosely, it appears to be a handwritten A4 sheet of parchment)  !!

Now look I am not a conspiracy theorist but your appearance in this sordid DVD gives the game away!!

"Fat lad"!!!

I may not be as lithe as I used to be, but calling me a fat lad is a little harsh!

I am not overweight - I'm just not tall enough for my weight!

Anyway - I did complete the Hull 10K in 51 minutes and 33 seconds last year, so I'm carrying it well - thank you very much!

1 point: Blindpugh, Bricktopsboss, Lookskywalker

What came first, the newt or the spawn?- the spawn obviously, otherwise how would you ever get the newt?  Smile

The knuckle coupler or Janney coupler was invented by Eli H. Janney, who received a patent in 1873 (U.S. Patent 138,405).[6] It is also known as a "buckeye coupler", notably in the United Kingdom, where some rolling stock (mostly for passenger trains) is fitted with it. Janney was a dry goods clerk and former Confederate Army officer from Alexandria, Virginia, who used his lunch hours to whittle from wood an alternative to the link and pin coupler. The term Buckeye comes from the nickname of the US state of Ohio, the "Buckeye state" and the Ohio Brass Company which originally marketed the coupling.[7]

Hello all!  Just back from the great adventure where, among other things (like a wedding) we had a boat trip around Singapore harbour, out to  small island with a temple and a terrapin sanctuary, and very nice it was!

So long as I don't fall under a bus or summat, I'll be back on Friday night, and will be in the "Bar" on Tuesday night serving Singapore Slings to all - and free, unlike the extortionate prices at Raffles, lol!

Looking forward to an arthur99 quiz.... Smile

Hopefully none too difficult as to result in various projectiles heading in my direction.

However, the teddy shield will be deployed as always.

Look forward to seeing you all on Friday at 8.30.

Pah!! Pah!! And even more Pah!!

Why has last nights QM, Arthur been given the accolade “Trainspotter of the Year” despite my superior knowledge.

When I asked him what a “Deltic” was he tried to fob me off with a vague  answer alluding to” a confluence of several rivers” which is completely incorrect and is in fact a Napier powered Diesel Locomotive running at 3300 RPM!!

Even worse, he described an A4, as bespoke size of old printer paper and not the sleek form of steam locomotive designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, one of which still holds the world speed record for steam traction!!

No wonder I was last again!!

Yours truly,

Ian Allen!!

Well Halleluiah And Lawdy Mamma !!

Finally I triumphed and won last nights quiz at a canter displaying yet again my intellectual superiority over the “Google Groupies” who rob me every week!!

Well err, I accept it wasn’t  actually The Quiz that I won, but the “Sub Quiz” i.e the Trainspotters Quiz within a Quiz that I dominated from first to last and quite rightly walked off with the spoils, a Locospotters Compendium from 1956!!

At least I battered the so called experts:- Steve O and Arthur who trailed in a dismal joint last! Even Lisa managed to beat them by answering “Flying Scotsman” whilst they were still fumbling for their Brush Type 2’s.

Mind you, she does have an affinity with Owld Boilers, I wonder why!!

If you have not tried the quiz before why not join in. We are a friendly bunch really.

No prizes

All you get if you win is the dubious honour of setting the next quiz and if you don't want to do that there will always be a volunteer.

  Oh laugh did you!!

Well it is with great sadness that I must comment on last night’s momentous occasion!!

Yes, a charlatan, posing as a female of err, mature years, residing in a Northern County replete with owld mills and fetid rivers was severely exposed during cross examination under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act!!

Instead of resorting to the usual tactic of saying “No Comment” she foolishly coughed to using a certain well known search engine to elicit answers to questions posted on the Quiz. Whilst this may be the norm amongst the criminal fraternity of this god forsaken county (80% of the male population I here), it is clearly a breach of the Quiz rules!!

Yes I’m sad to say that Lisa is a Ging Gang Googler of the worst order!! No wonder she wiped us all out!!

My illusions have been shattered!!

But at least I can hold my head up high as the “Only Pure Boy in the Village”

Yours truly,

Gutted of Goole!!

Grendel    -- Mar-17-2012 @ 5:00 PM
ptg, I was only shy a point from that well renowned northern lass with absolutely no recourse to the vagaries of Google, in fact I managed to pip her on the question of the American national anthem too. I have to admit that most of my points were down to a knowledge nearly as good as the quiz masters on a certain coot related subject, apart from my pitiful knowledge of the broads locations there within.
So by no means is such a score impossible without using google.
Grendel

ptg    -- Mar-17-2012 @ 8:24 PM
  Grendel

Precisely!! Coots, Scouts and National Anthems!!

And Rag Tag and Bobtail for goodness sake (I notice that the Cockney Wide Boy got that one right!!)

What sort of quiz was that!!

Even my finger was hovering over the Google button at one stage, but no some of us are steadfast in wor pursuit of excellence!!

Where were the Train / Newt / Newcastle United questions?

I might even give Lisa a bung in the hope that I can set next weeks questions!!

Then you are all stuffed!!

Paul

  Pah Pah and Multiple Pahs!!

Once again a family quiz descended into a morass of innuendo and filth prompted by comments made by a respected female member of the Forum who alluded to the opposite sex in terms of their girth!!

Apparently she cares little about men of the “Stick Thin Variety” but her preferences are for men who are “Large Boned “which one assumes means “rather stout”
Clearly this “lithest” comment is in direct breach of the Forum Rules and the member responsible for this should be sanctioned accordingly!!

But what followed was a reprehensible performance by middle aged men who should have known better as they attempted to curry favour with this wretched woman by trying to out do each other in terms of their weight!! Claim upon claim of how fat they were resulted in a stream of incredulous propositions, the last of which, by Jaguar, had me spluttering in my Owld Wartgribble!!

He claimed that he was so stout, that on Wednesday, having donned a grey suit he went shopping in Scunthorpe Town Centre only to be challenged by a police officer from the armed response unit who thought he was an escaped mammal from the local Zoo (yes you’ve guessed it, a large water loving creature from Africa its name beginning with H!!)

Needless to say this outrageous claim was met with widespread derision by other members and thankfully I retained my dignity throughout and refused to enter this unseemly auction of body mass!!

Yours truly,

Beanpole of Bubwith!!

P.S

Lisa I am a bit of a fat lad actually as I have three chins and me legs wobble when I walk. Do I qualify?

Any chance Pet!!

Err I thought not!!

Paul

arthur99    -- Apr-14-2012 @ 5:47 PM
Actually thaught it was going to be Mike.

Only realised at the end just how close the scores were.

I was rather surprised I could answer some of the music round questions.

Normally I am hopeless on popular music after about 1960 as my knowledge is more on classical music.

Also the science round was not too bad.  I think it was Dan that did a round on either science or mathematics a while back and I could not understand the questions let alone find an answer.

Anyway please note that next weeks quiz is free of,
Trains, Arthur Ransome, Scouts and Sailing so maybe this will reduce the number of incoming teddies to this location.

See you in next weeks quiz

  Finding questions is easy.
Think of something you don't know, then find out the answer, then you know.
When you know, try to work out whether other people will know. if you think they won't know what you now know put it in the quiz, then you'll find out who knew and who didn't know, However you would then know that everyone knows now, apart from those who knew but then forgot, because although they knew, they don't know now.

So now you know Smile

Grendel    -- May-12-2012 @ 4:11 PM
Well thats what I'm thinking, I am hoping that my questions wont be too hard so nobody gets the answer (though I am sure google will triumph in the end, but some of the questions may stretch the grey cells, just had a count and I have about 24 answers so far, some still need a question, and some need a category name. I am hoping that people will learn a few things they didnt know before.

Yet another travesty of Natural Justice, my stab at Golden Jubilee Glory derailed by malpractice of the worst order!!

At the end of Round One I was clearly miles ahead of the rest of the field ( a motley assortment of scoundrels and wastrels, including fading trainspotters, ageing hippies and Daily Mail Groupies etc !! )

Alas before the commencement of Round 2 I foolishly displayed my Republican tendencies by Pooh Poohing all of this Golden Jubilee nonsense!!

Immediately the QM tore up his original script and began asking a serious of questions linked entirely to the wretched Royal Family!!

For Example :-

Q1. Mary Mungo and Midge was the favourite TV programme of which of the Royal Korgis :-- Mingo, Dingo or Lingo?

Are you serious?!!

Q2. Which company from Swaffham (given the Royal Charter in 1837) was responsible for installing the septic tank at Balmoral in 1888?

Is this some kind of sick joke!!

Q3 In 1974 Princess Margaret was seen dancing on the tables in the bar of the “Spit and Vomit” a well known hostelry of ill repute located in Newcastle City Centre having consumed 17 bottles of Broon and 12 double Babychams.

True or False?

I correctly stated True only to be disqualified by the QM because he “Loves the Royals”

Excuse me man, I was there cheering her on from the Snug!!

Pah!! I,m off to disintegrate and listen to “Never Mind the Bollo..s” on Volume 10!!

Well it was very close at the half time tea break or beverage refill break with only two points between the top three, SteveO, Arthur99 and Jaguar.

But despite a late charge by TigerHawk and Midiman the eventual winner with 13 points was Jaguar who will be hosting the event next week.

Thank you to all those who took part, I hope you enjoyed it.

  Got in again at last.

Thanks for posting the results Mike.

A good quiz,  admit one of the question was not worded as well as it might have been but did not affect the end result.

As usual.  The questions I think are easy seem to take ages to be answered and some of the more obscure ones seem to get answered imediately.   Such is the knowledge on this forum.

Once again thanks to all who joined in and look forward to another one of Jags offerings next week.

Well its just typical isn,t it !!

Who needs the Olympics?

Ennis, Rutherford, Farrah etc on Super Saturday. Pah, meaningless!! This paled into insignificance when compared to the magnificent events that unfolded on “Fandabbydosey Friday” in the Quiz on the 3rd of August 2012. A date so special that it will be remembered for ever by those lucky enough to participate on the evening.

Without doubt the greatest night in the history of the Quiz, when a certain member obliterated the rest of the field and entered the record books for ever with a performance so stunning that it left Arthur spluttering in his Locoshed Annual 1969!!

Yes, out of 17 members, 16 were in the zero club, leaving one ( err no guesses yet please I,m leaving the Gold until last!!) with an overall score of 55 out of 55. Yes the first time ever that a member has had a clean sweep!! Even Jaguar had to doff his cloth cap in admiration!!

And yet come Saturday morning my dreams had been shattered. Apparently overnight some heartless Hacker had infested the site with “Tupperware” or some other sinister code that resulted in my magnificent achievement being erased from the record books for ever!!

Even worse this beastly buffoon then altered the results to indicate that Boatboy had actually won the Quiz!!

And to cap it all the Chief Choirmaster is now setting the questions again this week!!

Right I’m setting Norman off the leash and someone is in for one hell of a nasty nip!!

a certain naughty geordie choirboy called paul seems to be having delusions of grandeur, just becuse he had to say 100 hail mary's for putting a newt down the front of the organist's dress at choir practice, and making rude noises with the organ bellows at mass on sunday.
any more of this unseemly behaviour and he will be relegated to sweeping out the confessional after church.
father ted is not amused by his misdemeanours and is talking of excommunication.
he even went so far as to think about confiscating the boys marbles but choimaster said paul had lost them years ago

Goodfortune, as someone who has had many nasty dental treatments (root canals are now just a routine thing) crowns and extractions etc. take an ibuprofen about an hour before your treatment, ibuprofen helps reduce swelling and if you take it before going is working when you have the dental procedure, and stops any swelling starting. good luck with your dentist (dont do like me and fall asleep mid root canal treatment- it worries the dentist)

  delusions of grandeur,,” ehh.

Are you suggesting that I am not grand? If so I demand that you retract this scurrilous statement at once!!

I can tell you bonny lad that I am indeed grand, extremely grand in fact. And why you may ask? Because I have a personal invitation to the launch of the brand new Broom 30 Coupe at a secret location on the Northern Broads next weekend. Now if that doesn’t make me the grandest member of the Forum then what does? In fact, (and because I have been stripped of my accolade as the Halfwit of the year) I have decided to award myself the title “Forum Grandee of the Year 2012”

So there!! Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah!!!

Oh and by the way the suggestion that I would insert dear old Norman down the Organists dress is, quite frankly ludicrous!! We have standards you know. Only Bishops and above!!

have fun, I will try and be there (not sure of my commitment Friday yet).

Forgot to warn the poor man about all the teddy throwing.

I usually have two windows open and cut and paste the questions from ms word.

Trying to keep up with the scores is always fun and like you I resort to the pen and paper.

The only mistake you made in your first quiz Grendel was to set a round of Arthur Ransome questions on the assumption that I would not be there.

Dont worry Stuey, as has been said we all will be patient and helpful.

Well you lot will be pleased to know that you will avoid the usual evisceration on Friday because I am down on the boat (and for the next three weekends. Yipee!!)
However in my absence I have decided to set up an intuitive website that will allow those of err emm … well  lesser intellectual abilities to avail themselves with a ready resource that will assist them to succeed in the Quiz.

If enough of you are foolish (sorry sensible !!) enough to log onto the site below it will guarantee you success ( given my invaluable experience of winning the quiz  with monotonous regularity) in finishing in the top three of the Quiz  on every Wednesday until 2022.

Well that’s it, how low can a man get? Not content in stuffing me in the quiz every week Mike has heaped ignominy upon ignominy and left my dignity in tatters by assuming the last title that I have left.

Yes I am no longer the “Norfolk Broads Forum Fat Lad of the Year  2012” and have had to hand the baton on to a more substantial character whose girth quite frankly, must have Mr Blobby scrabbling for the diet books!!

Yes I met Mike for the first time in the flesh (and there is plenty of that!!) at an impromptu barbeque on Lisa,s boat at Brooms  last night and what a lovely chap and equally lovely partner. A splendid evening was had by all (despite the fact that the hostess was hammered by 7 pm and the meat content of the said barbeque consisted of one half frozen Chipololata sausage and two Linda McCartney veggie pies!!).

I was just bragging to Lisa how stout I was and showing her my six pack (well a party can of Watneys Red Barrel!!)  when the said Choirmaster stepped onto her lovely vessel.

Alas because of the enormous weight transference the effect on the River Yare was catastrophic and the ensuing Tsunami that hit Norwich 13 seconds later caused utter chaos. In fact the Bishop of Norwich was in the middle of a baptism ceremony at Pulls Ferry when the wave hit and as a result he and the poor babbie were swept into the snug of the nearby Red Lion Pub!!

Lucky lad, how’s that for holy water!!. Two pints of Humpty Dumpty!!

Although several of the regulars in the quiz are away at the C n C there will still be a quiz this Friday provided sufficient members turn up.

In the event that there are not enough people to make it worth running the quiz then it will be postponed until the following week.

Hopefully this will not happen.

Therefore here are the topics:

1.   LET'S GO INTERSTATE
2.  WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO FLY
3.  ARTHUR RANSOME

HALF TIME BREAK FOR DRINKS ETC

4.  IT'S NOT ABOUT STINKIES
5.  LOST RAILWAYS OF BROADLAND
6.  GENERAL FRIDAY MAYHEM

So get revising and still get the wrong answers.

HINT!   Round 1 is not about the USA.

Hope plenty of people turn up.  Remember the quiz is open to all forum members.

If you have not tried it before why not log into the chatroom at 8.30pm on Friday and join in the fun.

We always welcome new people.

There are no prizes.  The only thing you get if you win is the honour?  of hosting the next weeks quiz and you can always pass that on to someone else if you don't wish to do it.

you never really were owd lad, only in your tiny geordie imagination. The real truth about the chance encounter was this, while sitting quietly aboard moonlight shadow enjoying a pleasant drink and meaningful conversation an apparition manifested along side, making unintelligible noises in a guttural voice.
this apparition, with short fat hairy legs and bald head was none other than the infamous PTG himself. upon him climbing aboard the subsequent rocking of the boat not only spilled drinks for those present but actually washed three unsuspecting pike out of the water onto the bank. the conversation went downhill from this point and included something called an ALAN SHEARER this must be some strange geordie ritual that we normal folks know very little of, all in all after we logged into google translate so that we could understand what was being said a very pleasant evening was had by all.
to add insult to injury, not only is this demented character a geordie but he is a fully paid up member of the BROOMS BRUNDALL BLING BRIGADE.

Well one doesn’t normally demean oneself and respond to the imbecilic ranting of a “Yellow Belly” but given the sensational news from the NBFC in C I feel I must oblige and  reveal information about the “conspiracy theory” that lays bare the disgraceful plotting of the two protagonists  involved!!

Yes on Saturday, utilising my extensive skills at fitting up suspects (err I mean my substantial prowess at investigative interviewing under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act) I elicited some astounding revelations from Kitten about the alleged conspiracy.

Having plied her with copious amounts of cider throughout the evening she finally succumbed to my persuasive skills after her 14th pint of White Lightening and coughed the lot!!

Having fallen into the aft cockpit of the boat burping and hiccupping, she emerged a short time later (in a rather fetching pair of Alan Shearer pyjamas!!) and slurred the immortal words “ Ahhve got something here son, Hic, the Shmokin Gun, Hic, the Dodgey Dosshier, Parp!” Gis another pint and you can have the lot!!

Needless to say I did and quickly examined the soiled W H Smith folder she offered to me and following a swift perusal of the documents inside I was immediately electrified.
Yes a full transcript of e mails between our two quizmasters and even worse a comprehensive timetable of questions / answers and quiz winners for the next calendar year!!

Yes folks Mike and Arthur will be alternative winners of the quiz until July 2013 with a slight interregnum in November when Stuey Sheep (who?) will be allowed the accolade as a token winner!!

But even then as Kitten slurred in my general direction, he is a long lost relative of the Welsh Wizard (hence the name no doubt!!).
Having obtained this crucial evidence I quickly left the scene and thanked Kitten who, at this juncture was draped over the transom of the boat, plastic bucket by her side, warbling into an empty vase!!
“ I shooood be soo lucky , sooo lucky in lerrve”

Mike you need to get a grip!!

  Pah!!

You can,t fool me !!

Teademon is a term derived from an ancient pre Neolithic language found inscribed in a cave on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne that refers to a particularly virulent form of the Black Death that afflicted buffoons with warty faces that inhabited swamps around Thorne!!
Commonly known at the time as “ Jaguarthur Boila Boila Fever” it was renowned for its mind bending qualities that gave you  the ability to scratch quiz answers on parchment before other participants had the opportunity to even receive the damned questions using first class pterodactyl post!!

Needless to say only two quizmasters were ever provided with the antidote and the rest of the unfortunate souls that failed to win the quiz met a rather sticky and unpleasant end.

Nowt changes then!!

  Pah!!

Such perfidiousness!!

Look I have even had to resort to the Baird himself to support my supposition that the quiz is being fiddled on a regular basis!!

Quote “My brother and thy uncle, called Antonio—
I pray thee, mark me (that a brother should
Be so perfidious!)—he whom next thyself.”

( Err that will be  The Tempest Act 1 Scene 2 )

Now I realise that this is bit of culture shock to those who regularly participate in the quiz and who are, shall we say, at the lower end of the Intellectual Ometer more conversant with the works of Mills and Boon , Filthy Shades of Grey and Status Quos Greatest Hits Etc Etc

But it just demonstrates that a person of my towering intellectual ability has zero chance of reaching the pinnacle of NBF Quiz achievements with this lot in charge!!

In fact I am so incensed, that I am arranging a petition to the Bossman demanding the instant expulsion of the Choirmaster and all of his cronies.

So there.

Quiz questions you knew the answer to but the official answer was something totally different.

Arthur asked the other week what device did a boat yard fit to his yachty dinghy thingy to make it easier to operate on his own...now the answer given as correct was something about an auto helm type doofah thingy wotsit when I knewthe answer was an engine!

He's fallen in the water!

Feedback? I’m too exhausted to even respond to your taunts, proud in the knowledge that I am indeed the only pure boy in the quiz!!

Nope, Norman and I disgusted by the  appalling events on Friday, when yet again I trailed in a dismal last behind the chosen one, are now ensconced in a monastery in Tibet  (well  Whitley Bay actually) in a state of Purdah and refuse to play your mind games!!

I will be completely silent for 28 days and therefore unable to post anything on the Forum until this self inflicted period ends.

Now I know that this will cause great consternation and much wailing and gnashing of teeth by you lesser mortals desperate to bow to my magnificence, clinging to my every word. But one has to make a stand.

I hope you are proud of yourselves!!

Right I’m back, fighting fit after my self imposed period of exile incarcerated in a Sistine Chapel perched upon the sand dunes in a desolate part of the Northumbrian Coast and I warn you I am ready to take on the world!!

Unfortunately due to the 13 foot thick walls of the cell I was imprisoned  in, I was unable to obtain a signal on my “Whey Aye Pad” (a sophisticated Geordie electronic tablet using Etch a Sketch Technology based on the Pease Pudding Operating System!!) and have been unable to follow the weekly shenanigans.

However having quickly perused the site it is clear that my predictions of widespread corruption have been reinforced by the alleged identity of recent winners, Bricktopboss and Vetchugger!! Indeed! pull the other one!! These are clearly pseudonyms for the evil twins and I,m having none of it!
Deception of the grandest order I,m afraid ( and I should know being exceedingly grand!!)

So next week I,m back and you lot are in for one hell of a beating!!

PS

I don’t suppose anyone has seen Norman? Despite our decision to enter a period of abstinence as a joint venture, the wretched little creature escaped after 37 minutes by sashaying down the latrine emerging seconds later in the tap room of the local ale house “The Vomiting Mermaid”. He was last seen in a severe state of intoxication entwined in the arms of a Salamander from South Shields singing bawdy sea shanties, the filthy beast!!

  Good quiz, Mike, thanks.

I have only a few weeks left as Official Forum Idiot (shared), but rest assured I shall continue to strive to even greater idiocy in 2013. This is just a statistical blip in IQ (Idiot Quotient), caused by an excess of Hobgoblin (Alc. Vol. 5.2%) on the night. I shall recover in 2013, if you lot will just give me the opportunity.

You will be most welcome I.Peters.

Quiz is held each Friday at 8.30pm in Chat.

Format is simple.   The first to answer the question gets the point.   If two answer with the same time stamp then both will usually get a point.

Usually 6 rounds of 5 or 6 questions each.

Winner gets the honour? of setting and hosting the following weeks quiz.  Its not compulsary though and can always be handed to the runner up or to someone who vulunteers.

I think I have written a more difficult one this time as I am aiming for a quiz where google is not exactly helpful.

All the best

The 2 weeks since my victory in the Friday quiz has flown by, as it does when you are on holiday. Inspired by Arthur's "un-googleable" quiz, I have come up with a mixture of questions, some googleable and some not.

The topics are:
Broadland pub mix
2012 - That was the year, that was
The Broads connection
Norfolk Hams
Warmed up leftovers

We start at 8.30 prompt-ish.

Be there, or be square!

Cheers

Right!! I'm back! What you never missed me? Oh well, never mind. Now, what's the meaning of awarding £10 vouchers when I'm not here? This is discrimination against Essex Idiots, and it must stop. Not that I'll ever be anywhere near winning a quiz, but that's beside the point.

See you all later.

Regards, Ray.

If it's neither here, nor there, then where is it?

"Erm. I think you need a new thread '2013 Chat Room Quiz' etc"  ....
