Called here twice during our recent holiday and had two really good experiences. Staff are very pleasant and the service couldn't be faulted. The outside amusement area went down well with our grandchildren.

Mooring Description :
Pre-bookable mooring a bonus especially in busy periods. Gus is always on hand to help you in if necessary.
Food Description :
Two really good evening meals. By chance on our first evening, some of our party ordered burgers and got a free drink because it was Burger Night. The second evening was Steak Night and the same deal applies. Nice that the deal includes gammon as well as steak. All the food was exceptionally good and great value. The rib eye steaks were cooked to perfection.

arcades & entertainment

in August 2011 i booked a table & overnight mooring at the new inn, and as usual Gus was there to see us into the dyke. he is a very nice man and nothing is too much trouble. we had a very nice meal in the pub and as we had our two grandsons with us wanted to spend the evening in the garden while they played pool or used the amusement arcade. We were very surprised that in peak school holiday time that someone came out and shut off the arcades and turned off the lights over the pool tables etc. we found this to be the only negative aspect of our visit there as everything else was perfect. avg45

Got messed about trying to book a mooring........

Phoned the night before we planned to stop here. Was told that "because of the weather we aren't taking bookings and that I should call back at lunch time the next day" (because of the weather???) Did as I was asked and called back the next day only to be told that the moorings will be full that night. Disappointed we were messed about as we have had some great meals here in the past. However we had a great night just along the river at another well known Horning eatery.

A must visit establishment which is simply one of the best on the broads

This pub has everything from outdoor seating, ample moorings a facility to ring and book your moorings, the wonderful Gus who will be on hand to help you moor and provide any other assistance you may need. It has a covered and heated outdoor seating area, a restaurant, amusements, is child and dog friendly and serves a wide selection of beers and lagers. I can't say enough good things In addition you can sit on the boat in the evening watching the river traffic and wildlife sail by.

Mooring Description :
There is stern on moorings right on the edge of the pub grounds and if you give them a ring prior to attending with an estimated time of arrival they will reserve you a spot. The moorings have water available which they ask for a contribution of £2 to fill up. When leaving Gus will also assist you get away safely.
Food Description :
We booked a table in the restaurant and I had suet pudding and chips with veg, Julie had ribeye steak with chips and veg, Cally had Chicken Korma with rice and 2 slices of garlic bread and Mike had steak and ale pie. Cost £38 for the 4 of us. Finally we also had breakfast at the new inn prior to getting underway as they serve a full breakfast menu between 8am and 10am each morning. For example I had the full english which consisted of 2 sausages, 2 pieces bacon, 2 pieces of toast or fried bread, mushrooms and tomatoes or beans for £5.25. This certainly set me up for the day. In addition to the above at the back of the New Inn is a footpath leading up some steps to a large field which has 3 doggie bins and is a great exercise area for your furry friends. For a pub that has the lot, you must visit the New Inn

Stern on mooring, mid afternoon. (how lucky is that?)Presumably it was Gus who managed to expertly 'sardine' us into a space. Booked a table for an evening meal and was well impressed with the choice (even for 2 fussy daughters). Great moorings, great hot meal, great service, too much beer to remember much else....... Superb Pub/Restaurant which I will definitely re-visit on my next (2nd) time on the Broads.

Might have a more personal touch - but good place

Catering for the crowd - at a high standard. Offering a considerably bigger range of activities and variety of leisure facilities than many others. Huge space to sit outside and have pool billiard and amusements outside.

Mooring Description :
Only limited number of moorings, all stern-on (apart from the 4-packed small inlet); Note: full assistant by a caring mooring attendent provided by the pub. Note again: advance reservations by mobile phone-call possible. Not too noisy if staying overnight after some drinks.
Food Description :
The bar food is at normal standard. What strikes me is the extensive selection and availability at different stations throughout the place (in- and outside) of dressings, sauces, the tartar sauce I like so much, etc. Had the fried cod with chips and that was very much allright with a couple of glasses of white wine.

Good beer, good food, free (assisted) mooring.

Pub, gardens, arcade, moorings, covered seating areas were all very clean and tidy, the moorings and garden were well lit. Food was good quality, served quickly and reasonably priced.

Mooring Description :
Mooring is FREE! yes FREE of charge! Stern On, book well in advance, shore power electric hook-up is available but is very, very expensive, in the boat we had you use about 40p worth of electric at a BA pre-pay meter, it costs £5 at the New Inn, a huge 1000% mark-up. £2.50 would be much more reasonable and on a par with hook-ups at caravan sites etc. For this, and this alone I docked 5 points from ten!
Food Description :
Rib-eye steaks were a bit thin and overcooked (I ordered rare, it came medium) but tasted very good. Steak & Ale pie was excellent as was the Cromer Crab and Prawn salad. Kids loved the sausages (where do they get them, my lad said they were the best ever!) and the fish fingers are king-size, double the normal size, I have no idea where they found a fish with fingers that big! Deserts were good but the apple pie and custard was very, very average and if your an affectionado of AP&C then don't bother with it.

The ideal place and spot to end our holiday

Visited on 24 July and what a place to moor! Ideal to watch the busy river traffic, excellent facilities and a "mooring man" named Gus who is an asset to the pub. Highly recommended.

Mooring Description :
As this was my first time on the Broads, the stern-on mooring looked daunting but I needn't have worried. Gus was there to guide(erm.. pull) me in and tie us up securely. He mentioned that he still had another 7 boats to moor after us and that our boat may not be in the same position when we returned. Looking around, there were only 3 available moorings that I could see. But, later he had managed to pack 'em all in, obviously by pulling some up tight to each other. This guy just does not say no and will definately raise the revenue of the pub, when he could so easily turn boats away. I would, however, strongly recommend a telephone call to book a mooring.
Food Description :
Excellent food and drinks at reasonable prices, served by very efficient and friendly, attentive staff.

One of our Favorites

We come to The Broads every year for 2 weeks, and this is one of the few places that we visit more than once during the holiday. Gus is always there to give you a hand mooring, and somehow no matter how busy he is he spots us if we are going past and gives us a wave. The staff are always super, and it's nice to see the locals use the pub too. A great place to sit and watch the world go by. Our son has grown up now, so we try avoid places with loads of kiddie stuff, but even though the New Inn has plenty of things for the kids, there's lots of space so you don't feel they are everywhere!!
