Not for us

This is no longer a pub suitable for passing boaters in our opinion. The food was over priced and not much of it either, although did taste ok. The emphasis seemed to be aimed at the high end customer and judging by the conversations during the evening, has succeeded in that. The moorings were very good with new decking but beware mooring there when the BBQ is going as it's only feet away from you as the smoke could be a big problem. We would overnight at the common but not eat at the pub again.

Not what I expected...

Much nicer than it was before the recent refurbishment. The place is reminiscent of a city centre affair, rather than a country riverside pub. I expected excellent food to match the decor, but I was pretty disappointed really. The service was slow and staff a little sullen. The hostess was far too busy with the obviously regular 'blue rinse brigade' to bother with us, and didn't even speak to us. For welcome, I'd rate the place about 3/10. Surroundings and much better and come out around 8/10.

Mooring Description :
Plenty on Bramerton - 24 hour mooring and enough for a good number of vessels.
Food Description :
The menu was quite good, but sadly didn't live up to it's pretensions. The food took forever to arrive, despite the fact it wasn't particularly busy, nor a complex order. When it did, they committed the ultimate sin for me - it was only lukewarm, and had obviously been standing a fair while. I had the chicken, and frankly it did not even remotely live up to it's rather top end price. We would stop for a drink here in the decent weather and sit outside. But we wouldn't choose to eat here. There are some far better (and cheaper) alternatives on the Broads.

What sort of pub doesn't have a menu ready when opening

Poor service arrived at 11.20am and asked to look at a menu before ordering at 12, only to be told we don't print them until 12!! One has to ask are you in the service industry with great service or are customers an inconvenience.

Stayed here friday 7th June on our last night and were lucky to get a table. It was full to the rafters at 1900hrs which tells you all you need to know. Booking highly recommended. Ask for a river view if possible. Very professionally run and it shows.

Mooring Description :
Plenty out front and we were the only boat here.
Food Description :
Not cheap but fantastic food. The pork belly was sublime. Nicest food on the Broads.

MASSIVE improvement!

Light years ahead of what it used to be.

Mooring Description :
Wouldn't say the moorings were necessarily limited, but it would only take a few "gin palaces" to fill them up!
Food Description :
Food was brilliant. The pub was really busy and the quality was still kept high. Possibly the best burger I've had on the Broads. the rest of the crew had the roast beef which they were mighty impressed with. Will definitely be calling in here again. Just hope they can survive the winter to still be there next year!!

Limited food availability

A pretty location but the pub was a bit sad looking in places. Seemed average to slightly above in terms of price.

Mooring Description :
Lots of free moorings on the common and some space just in front of the pub.
Food Description :
Food is available midday-2.30pm then 6-8.30pm (I think those times are right). Both had a burger and chips which was generously sized and tasty. Staff were attentive once we had our meal, asking if everything was ok but the food took almost an hour to come out. We weren't spoken during that time.

Woods End

It is a lottery if you can find this pub actually open. The last time we were able to get in they had one beer on, Wherry which was overly chilled and in poor condition. We didn’t feel very inclined to eat. We then moved on to the Ferry at Surlingham which is always open and enjoyed a good meal and friendly welcome.

The Woods End, Bramerton

Well, what can I say.....Unpleasant staff, bad food. Try The Ferry House at Surlingham where you can always be assured of a warm welcome. City Boats have tried to bring lots of customers to this pub but they just don't want to know. As I walked in late last summer ahead of a group of customers, I was greeted with the words 'where are these f***ing 34 people anyway'. What excellent customer service!

Mooring Description :
Usually plenty of moorings as the place is usually empty when they can be bothered to open.
Food Description :
Despite my party of 4 leaving most of their meal, the staff didn't even ask if everything was ok for us - which it obviously wasn't.

Needs working on

Have been told that this used to be one of the best pubs on the southern broads. Not now. Very tatty inside. For a Saturday night in June only one boat moored up. By 10pm about 6 people left in bar, say's it all.

Mooring Description :
Moorings outside pub are all new and excellent. Great mooring in walking distance at the common.

Just another Pub!

Main front entrance is through two single doors (one behind the other). Can be a bit awkward when coming back outside with a tray full of drinks and negotiating this entrance!! We visited at lunchtime on 13 April 2007 and decided that we would have our last evening meal of the holiday here. I reserved a table just to be on the safe side. On returning in the evening at the reserved time we found that the table was in use!! As there was another table free near the window, we settled for that one instead. One young lad (staff) seemed unsure of what he was doing and the two girls seemed to be flying all over the place!! I tried a pint of the Spindrift - not to my liking - it didn't even have a head on it!! We may go back to this pub but only because as we hire out of Brundall, it is a convenient last night stop-over before handing the boat back the next morning.

Mooring Description :
There are moorings outside the pub but we moored up at the Bramerton common public moorings and walked down to the pub (5 minutes).
Food Description :
Starter of soup of the day (tomato and peppers) - not very hot but palatable and tasty. Main course was sirloin steak with chips and the usual trimmings (onion rings, tomato, lettuce etc.) It was ok but for the price we paid - not exceptional.

A good pub with pleasing choice of beer and food

Like the position of this pub and normally moor at the green and then walk down the lane. Have consumed good beer over many years but not eaten so often. We don't have young kiddies but see quite a few so must be OK.

Mooring Description :
Moorings avaialable outside the pub but a good stretch of public moorings at the green where there is also a power point. Lovely to watch the sun go down and wake up to rabbits running around and ducks walking over the boat!
Food Description :
Good selection of food including veggie options. Service good and lots of choices of seating. Outside is great when the weather is hot.
