Cafe Pub Restaurant

Under the same great management since 2008! Very pleasant spot on the river Yare with much work having been done to repair the quay heading over the last couple of years. A mixture of side on and stern on moorings. Food served all day, every day from 12-9pm with good, homecooked offerings on the menu. Exceptional value at £7.95 for most main meals with HUGE portions!! Some of the best, home cooked vegetarian food on the Broads! Best to book at weekends and on Bank Holidays as it is a popular place. The Ferry House is both child and dog friendly too! New for July 2011 - The Ferry House Cafe will be operating from the back room of the pub, serving breakfsts (including veggie option) from 8am until midday and then light lunches, snacks and cakes until 3pm, 7 days a week. Also planning to offer "Essentials" for sale to boaters including eggs, bread, milk etc.

Excellent as always

Overnighted on Thursday 14th July whilst out on Thunder last week. Food as good as always. Janet had a Steak that had to be shared with the Mutties it was so large and nothing spared on the quality either. I had double Sea bass fillet also excellent. Nice to be able to stern moor on the new heading. Partook of the breakfast offering the following morning which was absolutely huge, double portions of everything and included the toast, tea and orange juice all for £7.95 each. No Lunch required that day and we retired to mud weight on Surlingham broad in the Sun

Ferry house

There was only 5 boats moored up so had lots of choice, we had booked a table for 19.30 but decided to wander over at quarter past. Had to wait 10 mins to be shown our table and in all took over two hours to get the food. Food was ok but nothing special, large portions but presentation not good.

One of the Best

Still provides great atmosphere good food in a traditional pub setting, could do without flashing lights in bar though Quality of food still good as my review six years ago something for everyone

Mooring Description :
Plenty of. Mooring available but most in very poor condition with some decent mooring the place would be greatly improved

Very good food good choice at fair prices

Great pub, dreadfull moorings

I prebooked a mooring for my daughter and her mates for the night, the reserved mooring was on the pilings which no one ever uses. I should have not moored up, but I didnt want to dissapoint the girls so Did my best, and even with help onshore, I still managed to scratch the hull. The mooring needs wooden surfaces and the old bolts cutting out. Such a shame I see this as a cheap shot, come on guys you can do better than this.

Brilliant Food. Excellent Service. :)

I'm almost in 2 minds about writing such a great review, just in case we cant get a mooring next time! Having not had the best of experiences at another well known pub down river, we decided to give this one a whirl. In short its brilliant!! Seems to be a young team running the place, but they couldn't do any more to make your visit more pleasurable. A shining example of great customer service. (perhaps another pub close by can learn from this?)

Mooring Description :
I heard that they had improved the moorings here. Still room for a bit of improvement as I found the mooring post we needed lying halfway down the beer garden. :)
Food Description :
Brilliant! HUGE portions and very well cooked. Great value for money.

Awesome pub!

This was our 1st boat trip, 1st nite, 1st stern mooring, in very tight spot, needless to say, it didn't go to well but thankfully had some great locals and fellow boaters there help us out by reeling us in! lol TY! We had planned on mooring at Bramerton but was full, TG because we had an amazing 1st nite at this pub after getting over our embarrassment! lol Customers were fantastic, staff were so friendly and fun, food was great, drinks.. well, I closed the place down then sat outside riverside after w more with some fun people I found there, lol It was a great nite and so glad we found this place, def go back next time! Friendly, fun, great prices and booze, great pub and dog friendly!

Mooring Description :
Good stern-on moorings right in front, def need more tho as all were jammed in like sardines in a can! lol Get to this part of the river early, anywhere between Norwich and Reedham in fact or you might not get one!

Called in a couple of weeks ago for lunch and can report that the pub is still on great form! Three of us were all very pleased with our meals (steak & ale pie, salmon and the home made veggie cottage pie)and the Broadside and Elmtree brewery ale on offer were well kept.

Sonia and here team made us feel really welcome and the service was first class! When you moor up book a table straight away as the Pub does get full up quickly!!

The Pub has been freshend up and is looking fine now, with new garden furniture. The food is very good and is absolutely excellent value for money.

Mooring Description :
As has been mention the quay heading is not at it's best and does need replacing, so moor with care.
Food Description :
Had starters, which were excellent and at £2.95 were very good value, my mains (Chicken Melt)and Jo's mains (Ham/Eggs/Chips)was again good value and very well cooked

Highly Recommended!!

Pleased to report that Sonia and team are still doing great things at the Ferry House. The menu still offers exceptional value for money with plentiful portions of good, homecooked traditional pub fayre - but a cut above the rest!! The Broadside was also on top form!

Mooring Description :
The moorings are still in need of renewal/upgrading in places.
Food Description :
Still no vegetarian options listed on the boards, but I was given a choice of three options when I asked. I opted for the veggie Cottage Pie (made with Quorn mince) which was very, very tasty but TOO big for me to manage!! Massive portions of freshly cooked veg to accompany the main meals. My companions had the Steak & Ale Pie and the Salmon fillet in lemon butter - both got a big thumbs up!! All exceptionally good value at £6.95.

Under New Management For 2008!

Stopped of for a lunchtime pint and some food and was very pleasantly surprosed by the changes that have gone on there. Great food, good beer and definately worth a visit.

Mooring Description :
Caution needed with the moorings at the moment as work is needed on the quay heading. Space for about three boats, side on, directly in front of the pub where the quay heading is good, more stern on moorings available further down but avoid the centree section for now as it is in a poor state.
Food Description :
Limited menu at present and there were no vegetarian options listed at all. I asked and was given just one choice - spinach and ricchotta canneloni - however it was very nice and came with a massive portion of chips and five different varieties of fresh vegetables. My non veggie companions also rated their meals highly. We will definately be back!!

Much good work is being done on the moorings and landscaping of the Ferry at the moment and currently (May 2007) only open at lunchtimes during the weekend but are open every evening from 7pm. I believe that they will revert to full opening hours during the main summer season. Well worth a stopover as the food and beer are very good and it is in a beautiful location.

Mooring Description :
Room for about 3 or 4 boats side on directly in front of the pub, but plenty of stern on moorings available just slightly further down.
Food Description :
Had a meal on May 24th 2007 - limited menu at present but all of very good quality and home cooked.
