Shimmering Light was not my first choice for the hire boat for last years holiday, but it was all they had left in our price range. The internal photograph in the brochure put me off. It looked very dated, and although I am not a boat snob, I do like newer boats. I did think the boat may have been updated since the picture was taken but I was wrong. The two armchairs are the only availble comfortable seating in the saloon, they were old and - i felt - looked a bit flea bitten. And of course, if you are a couple who like to snuggle on the sofa you have no chance with two armchairs. The bathroom was better, quite large with a corner bath. The diagram in the brochure does not show it but you have to step up quite a bit to the bath level. I thought I'd be able to take a shower in the bath most mornings, but because of the height of the bath level, you cannot stand up to take a shower. Otherwise the bathroom was fine. The bed was comfortable and there was enough storage for two people for one week. The boat handled fine, it was actually my first time doing the majority of the handling and it wasnt a problem at all. Cooking and dining facilties were fine. We struggled to get a picture on the TV anywhere, but heck! We didnt want to watch the TV anyway. Two great spots on the back of the boat for fishing. All in all, this boat was OK as long as you dont mind it looking a bit dated and having just two separate seats.
