We had Fine Gem 3 from 22 Aug to 26 Aug. The pictures on the website are probably from the best of the class, they are not all the same standard. The boat was fine mechanically but in a bad way cosmetically. Yes, it’s near the end of the season but some of the deck paint was peeling away plus the numerous repairs seem to have been carried out by a 5 year old. I did not expect the exterior to be sparkling but they could have given the decks a quick mop to remove the dirt and leaves. There were a few weeds and bits of grass growing between the toe rails and rubbing strakes as well. Basically it needs a full refit top to bottom. We understood this boat is pretty much at the bottom of the range but was the only one available that suited us. Despite the boat being a bit rough we still enjoyed ourselves which is the most important thing. Just wanted to add - Fine Gem has all the berths on the starboard side along with the water and holding tanks. This adds up to a reasonable list which looked the same on No. 2 which we spotted at Salhouse. Could do with some ballast added to the port side.
