Broadland Saturn 3 - a great design of boat for two people, easy to handle, with a fairly quiet, modern Nanni diesel engine which proved to be very economical over the week if the revs were kept below 1600. Just over £20 of fuel used having covered 82 miles with 20 hours of cruising time. The Broadland Saturns are an older, budget boat but, overall, we were happy that we had got good value for money with our choice. The boat, although not pristine, was well presented and clean and apart from a few niggles which probably go hand in hand with hiring towards the end of the season, there were no major problems at all. The niggles - the electric fridge seemed to only work whilst the engine was running and by morning the freezer compartment had defrosted and the fridge contents had warmed up. Probably just needed a new leisure battery and, although we did mention it to the yard on return, we didn't feel it really warranted an engineer call out during the holiday. Similarly, some of the interior lights needed new tubes as they had become very dim. The main surprise for me was the lack of kitchen utensils which I have taken for granted with other hire companies - no cheese grater or wooden spoons for example. If you are likely to be cooking onboard quite a bit then I would recommend you take along anything in the utensil line that you think you might need - or stock up in Lathams as I had to do! The canopy was definately a two person job to get up and down and I would say that you do need to be fairly agile on this boat as you need to step over canopy rails to get on and off if it is down. Also, if you like a soft bed then this probably isn't the boat for you as the forward double was extremely firm! But these few negative points aside, it made for a good home afloat for the week and I would happily hire again.

Great boat, thoroughly enjoyed my stay on this, pity that this style of cruiser seems to be disapearing from the fleets.
